Private rented sector access project started
Shahzad Hussain joined the ELHP Team in January to work with landlords to increase the number of private rented properties available to Local Authority nominees. This project is funded by the successful bid to the Department of Work and Pensions last year for mitigating the impact of the LHA reforms. For further information please contact Shahzad Hussain.

Single Homelessness Project

First cases are underway for the Safe and Secure project
Affordable Rent and Housing Benefit Calculator – the Affordable Housing Delivery Group has been working on the preparation of an online calculator to assist homeseekers with planning their household budgets should they move into an Affordable Rent home. Warm Homes Healthy People
in December 2011, ELHP was successful in bidding for £700,000 under the Department of Health’s Warm Homes Healthy People programme which targets reducing excess winter deaths. This funding will be used for additional assessments and measures as part of the East London Thermal Comfort Programme delivered by Warm Zone. We are also co-ordinating training for Affordable Warmth Champions to enable front line staff to identify those at risk during cold snaps and refer households into services.
