On these pages you can find out all about Neighbourhood Management - a new initiative which has been launched by the council to give you a say in how you want your local neighbourhood improved.
The initiative is being rolled out across the borough as a result of successful pilot schemes in Marks Gate, Abbey, Gascoigne and Thames wards.
Neighbourhood Management will see you teaming up with your very own local Neighbourhood Management officers to bring about real changes in local neighbourhoods.
Neighbourhood Management aims to coordinate local services in neighbourhoods with particular focus on improving the local environment, and ensuring residents feel safe. It achieves results by partnership working and problem-solving across local agencies, ensuring that your concerns are heard and responded to.
You will be supported by the teams to identify what needs to be delivered in your neighbourhood, and will have the opportunity to get involved to make a difference.
Councillor Mick McCarthy, former Executive Member for Neighbourhood Management, said:
"Neighbourhood Management is a new scheme which has been launched by the Council to ensure local residents are given a chance to help the Council, ward councillors and our partners to improve the area in which they live, work and play.
"I have been pleased by the amount of enthusiasm and excitement shown by all residents who attended the Neighbourhood Management launches we held throughout the summer and in October 2007. We have some really passionate people who want to work with us to a make difference and to improve their local environments. I am committed to ensuring Neighbourhood Management works for everyone and that everyone who lives and works in Barking and Dagenham reaps the benefits."
