Becky Wisbey started as Neighbourhood Manager for Marks Gate and Chadwell Heath ward in June 2007.
Previously Becky worked for Stevenage Borough Council as a Community Development Officer supporting 2 neighbourhoods.
During her time at Stevenage she also volunteered as a trustee and company secretary for a social enterprise café, which provides work experience and training for people who either have disabilities or are long term unemployed.
Becky's first priority as Neighbourhood Manager will be to ensure that the community are involved in and feel central to the Neighbourhood Management of Marks Gate and Chadwell Heath from the very beginning; in order that she is aware of their key issues so the residents' issues become Neighbourhood Management priorities.
Becky is still getting to know the residents and believes Neighbourhood Management will be a good thing for residents on her ward. Becky is passionate about communities receiving the support and resources that they deserve in order for them to make their neighbourhoods a place where they are proud to live.
Becky says:
"I am confident that Neighbourhood Management will create a positive sense of community, where residents feel that not only are they being heard, but that their views are acknowledged and bring about change."
"Neighbourhood Management will create opportunities for residents, who are only too aware of the issues and needs of the communities where they live, to bring about positive change. People's quality of life will improve and people will be proud of their ward."
Becky has been interested in Neighbourhood Management for many years, and through her work as a community worker she has seen first hand the impact residents can have when they come together to bring about change.
Becky says:
"I enjoy working with people and enabling them to make a difference and felt that by working as part of a Neighbourhood Management team I would be able to continue to do something I love. I wanted to work for Barking and Dagenham Council because of its strong commitment to Neighbourhood Management."
