Edith was appointed Village ward Neighbourhood Manager in January 2008. Edith has been working as a community development officer in the Gascoigne Neighbourhood Management Team since July 2007.
Previously Edith worked for the Wellingborough Council, in Northamptonshire, as a partnerships coordinator. This role involved supporting a range of voluntary organisations, coordinating community-based projects and encouraging local businesses to take an active role in their area.
Edith's first priority is to get to know the residents, the local community and voluntary groups in the area and to identify what their concerns are. Edith will work with the residents, local services and organisations to tackle these issues and help residents create an area that they want to live in.
Edith said:
"I am really pleased to be working in Village ward. In the short time I have been here I have been welcomed by the organisations and met residents who are keen to get involved in Neighbourhood Management work. I believe that the work that we will do will help the residents to feel part of the neighbourhood and give them a chance to influence how they want their ward to be.
"I think that Neighbourhood Management will be able to make some visible changes in the area whilst also bringing together the community and increasing the Village ward spirit. I am looking forward to working with a whole range of people on the projects that the residents of the borough have identified that they want to see happen."
The Village Neighbourhood Management Team is based at the Ford Road Children's Centre where Edith will be joined by a community development officer and a neighbourhood support officer.
