Gabby Bailey joined Barking and Dagenham Council in March 2008 as Neighbourhood Manager for Abbey ward.
She joined from the London Borough of Camden where she worked as a programme officer in a Neighbourhood Management Pathfinder covering 4 wards for the past 3 years.
Gabby managed a number of community projects while also completing a Post Graduate Certificate in Neighbourhood Management.
She then spent a year working on behalf of the voluntary sector delivering part of Camden Council's Tenant Participation Strategy, which specifically looked at setting up Tenants' and Residents' Associations and community groups, which gave Council tenants and residents a voice.
Gabby said:
"I am now hoping to bring my knowledge of Neighbourhood Management to my role in Abbey ward. I am excited about the opportunity to be a part of this new initiative and team. I think we can make a real difference to the way that services respond to the needs of the community.
"I am also excited about being based in Abbey Ward, there are many changes going on across the ward that will benefit the community."
Gabby's first priority will be to get out into the community and find out about residents' views and to increase participation.
She has also started to contact and meet with service providers and local organisations in the ward to establish and work out how they can work together with our team to deliver improvements to how services are delivered in the community.
Gabby added:
"I will also be looking at setting up a partnership group which will have residents, councillors, community groups, voluntary groups, local businesses and statutory agencies. It is my aim that together, we will address the needs of local residents and make Abbey ward a better place to live, work and learn."
