Whalebone ward

Did you know…

Whale bones were washed up from the Thames and erected outside Whalebone House and Toll Gate. Whalebone House was demolished in an air raid in 1941 and the whale bones were taken to Valence House museum.

Selina's Lane was named after a local character Selina Seabrook. Selina's family farmed at Butlers Farm.

The Havering Stone is grade 2 listed and marks the boundaries between the parish at Kings Avenue and High Road, Chadwell Heath. The stone was erected in 1640 and still stands today.
