Workforce and Employment

The Adult College of Barking & Dagenham offers a variety of training and work-based learning programmes with the aim of developing a more effective workforce. Our Learning for Work courses are open to individuals wishing to build skills and improve job prospects as well as to employers seeking to strengthen their workforce through training.

Training and vocational courses (NVQs) can provide you or your employees with the right skills, accuracy and efficiency to deliver a product or service better than your competitors. Our NVQs are partially carried out on site, so there is no need to leave the workplace every week.

We have a wide variety of training and qualifications on offer and because we understand that every individual and every business has different needs, we are also able to help you identify training needs that are specifically relevant to you.

We also have a new employment service to help get you into work.

Apprenticeships

The Barking and Dagenham Apprenticeship Scheme helps people who are currently not in education or employment gain valuable skills on-the-job.

We support many different types of business and apprenticeships, uniquely tailoring each programme to the business needs.

To Employers

Apprenticeships are designed by employers for employers, and tailored to meet the needs of each specific sector.

As employees, apprentices work alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills. Off-the-job training is usually on a day release basis, which takes place within the Adult College, Fanshawe Crescent site.
Apprenticeships - the right skills for your business

To Candidates

As an apprentice you will work four days per week, gaining a technical certificate and key skills qualifications through attending college one day per week. Your off the job study time is also a great opportunity to network with other apprentices.

At the end of your apprenticeship you will have achieved vocational qualifications and developed a range of work-related skills making you precisely what employers need.

To speak to somebody about taking on an apprentice and / or becoming an apprentice, please contact us via telephone or send us a message using the contact form.
