Borough and Me homework competition: big ideas for a better borough

Borough and Me homework competition

Borough and Me explores the story of Barking and Dagenham and its rich heritage, while looking at how we can build a better future for our residents and enable communities to flourish.

We’re inviting all primary schools in Barking and Dagenham to get involved in our Borough and Me homework competition.

The project encourages pupils aged 7 to 11 to explore the past, present and future of the borough, while thinking about the things that would make it an even better place to live in. Students can pick from four project categories to express their ideas ranging from town models and murals, to creative writing and poetry.

Each participating school will be asked to select their three best entries, which will then be entered in the ‘Borough and Me’ exhibition at the One Borough Festival on 20 July. These entries will be judged by the Leader of the council along with other local celebrities, and three winning entries will be selected to receive cash prizes for their schools.

Schools are asked to spread the word by sharing the Borough and Me homework competition details (downloadable below) with their students.
