Brownfield Land Register
The Housing and Planning Act (2016) and the Town and Country Planning (Brownfield Land Registers) Regulations 2017 requires local planning authorities to identify, publish and maintain a register of brownfield land suitable for residential and mixed-use development within their area.
Sites that meet the criteria set out in the above regulations must be entered in Part 1 of the brownfield land register. The local planning authority may choose to enter sites into Part 2 of the register and thus grant permission in principle for those sites.
At this time no sites are included In Part 2 of the Barking and Dagenham Brownfield Land Register and therefore no sites in the register have been granted permission in principle. A planning application is required for any site in the register that does not have planning permission. Planning applications will be assessed in accordance with the adopted Local Plan, the London Plan and the NPPF.
