Carers permit
If you receive home visits from a carer and you live within a controlled parking zone then you may be entitled to a carers parking permit.
You may also apply for a carers permit if you work for a carers agency and provide multiple residents of Barking and Dagenham with home visits.
How to apply
You can apply for a new carer permit, or renew an existing one by completing the Carer's Permit application form:
Apply for a Domestic Carer's Permit
If you are a resident receiving care you must provide proof of your care needs:
- a letter from your GP or NHS
- welfare benefit entitlement letter confirming you are in receipt of the Care component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
If you are a care provider/agency you must provide proof that you are providing care to a Barking and Dagenham resident (e.g. a contract).

- 6 month permit, £83.50
- 12 month permit, £125
Where you can park
- The permit only allows you to park in a 'Resident Permit Holders Only' parking place during the controlled hours in a specific parking zone associated with the permit holder's address.
- The permit does not allow you to park in 'Business Permit Holders Only' parking places, pay and display bays, yellow lines or any other parking restriction.
