We are but shadows and dust
L. A. MacDonald
L. A. MacDonald is a third-year student studying fine Art at UEL and specialises in Printmaking. She has initiated a project for Eastbury Manor entitled We are but shadows and dust. (Horace, Odes)
She presents a project in two parts in the attic spaces of the manor. The first recalls memories of her childhood growing up in a house opposite the manor where generations of her family have lived. Her work explores the lives of ordinary working people and recollects the domestic life of a working-class household. The images are collected from a series of family albums and silkscreen printed on transparent papers and illuminated from the back to invoke a ghostly memory of past lives lived.
Reimaging a room at Eastbury Manor
Year 1 UEL Interior Design Students
UEL Year 01 Interior Design presents a selection of surveys, plans, material palettes and moodboards that look towards a new Eastbury Manor museum. Reinventing a cafe bar, a gift shop, permanent museum rooms and a gallery space, we have attempted to marry a contemporary style of design with the existing historic house. The treatment of walls, floors, furnishings and lighting twins with a concept for each space to enliven and attract a new public to explore the stories and seduction of this important building and its interiors.
