The ever-popular summer Youth Parade returns to Barking and Dagenham on Sunday 16 September, as the borough gets set to celebrate their inspirational young people and the positive contribution that they make to the area.

Residents are being encouraged to line the streets and cheer on the parade, before joining in the celebrations taking place on Abbey Green following the procession.

The parade will begin in Barking Park at 1.30pm, travelling through Barking Town Centre and ending at Abbey Green, opposite the Broadway theatre.

Those in attendance will be able to enjoy music, dance and food until 5pm, while a selection of inflatables and rides will be available for children.

Residents wishing to find out more about the groups, clubs and activities for young people in the borough will also have an opportunity to do so.

Councillor Saima Ashraf, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Community Leadership and Engagement, is looking forward to the display:

“This is the fifth consecutive year that we have held the Youth Parade, and this year’s edition promises to be bigger and better than ever.

“I hope that as many residents as possible will come and line the streets from Barking Park to Abbey Green, to cheer on our youngsters and enjoy the vibrant display on offer.”
