BFI Film Academy seeks promising young filmmakers aged 16-19
Sixteen lucky youngsters could each benefit from over £1,000 worth of filmmaking expertise on a Department for Education (DfE) subsidised Young Film Academy course.
The British Film Institute (BFI) Film Academy is offering a great opportunity for 16-19 year olds with a passion for film and who want to build and develop a career in the film or television industry.
Barking and Dagenham teenagers who want a chance to be a part of Britain’s future film industry will receive practical training for every film industry role – from writing and directing through to production, sound design, editing and camera. There will also be learning around film history and cinematic storytelling to inspire an appreciation of film culture in the round.
The BFI Film Academy aims to train and inspire the next generation of British filmmakers, supporting talented and committed young people aged 16-19 to develop the commercial and cultural knowledge and skills to make a career in film a reality.
Councillor Evelyn Carpenter, Cabinet Member for Education and Schools said: “The BFI is offering a brilliant life changing opportunity for young people in Barking and Dagenham to receive hands-on filmmaking experiences from the industry’s best.
“If you are a young person with a passion for film and TV, take advantage of this invaluable opportunity to be discovered, developed and funded. Experiences like these improve the employment prospects of our young people and give them the confidence to realise their highest aspirations.”
The Young Film Academy’s course of ten Saturday sessions will be held from 10am to 5pm at Sydney Russell School.
The 16 most promising and passionate applicants aged 16-19 will win places.
