Book your free home security health check

key in the doorTags Adults , Council , Residents

Residents of Barking and Dagenham can tighten up their home security for free this winter thanks to a scheme from independent charity, Victim Support.

Working in partnership with Barking and Dagenham Council and the Metropolitan Police, residents will be able to have devices fitted such as new locks, window and door alarms, and lockable letterboxes as part of Victim Support’s Safer Homes project.

The free service is available to anyone – you don’t have to have been a victim of crime to request an appointment in your home.

Residents can self-refer or refer someone they know that might benefit, as long as they have their permission.

Councillor Margaret Mullane, Cabinet Member for Enforcement and Community Safety, said: "This great free service is an ideal way to give your home security a health check. The reality is that most of us won’t be victims of crime but that doesn't stop us all taking precautions where we can, so book an appointment today."
