One of London’s oldest markets is extending its opening hours over the forthcoming festive season.

Stallholders will be trading at Barking Market every Monday in December until Christmas Day to give shoppers even more time to browse.

As well as the extended opening hours, there will also be a special Christmas day event taking place on Friday, 20 December, with free children’s rides, face painting, and games as well as festive food sellers and gift stalls for bargain hunters to find stocking fillers.

Barking Market, which dates back as far as the 12th century, has over 40 different stalls selling everything from everyday essentials through to games, clothes and cuisines from around the world.

The market, which is located between East Street, Ripple Road and Short Blue Place in Barking, is open every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday throughout the year.
