Cleaner Barking and Dagenham streets with new cleaning equipment
Residents of Barking and Dagenham are benefitting from cleaner streets and tidier neighbourhoods, after the council invested in ten electric blowers to help keep the borough clean.
The new electric blowers are very effective for getting litter and leaves out of difficult to reach places, for example in and around parked vehicles on streets, while also being easy to use for long periods.
The new cleaning blowers are electric, rather than running on petrol or oil, quieter to use in residential areas, and more environmentally-friendly as they have zero-emissions.
Councillor Syed Ghani, Cabinet Member for Public Realm, said: “I’m really pleased with the investment in our new, green electric blowers and how they let our staff do their jobs more effectively, making our borough cleaner and a more pleasant to live and work in.
“This is just one part of our ongoing commitment to keeping the borough clean, and in the last few months we have also invested in 30 new street cleansing barrows, and a whole new fleet of bin trucks, to make sure we provide cleaner streets and better bin collections.
“I’m really proud of just how hard our frontline cleaning teams have been working to keep our borough at its best during these challenging times. Residents can do their bit by not littering and reporting any problems to us.
“We’ve also brought back our very successful Wall of Shame video series to crack down on fly-tippers.”
