LGBT+ ready to make a difference in Barking and Dagenham

Do you identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or trans (LGBT+)?

Do you live, work or study in Barking and Dagenham and want to make a major difference in the borough?

ELOP, East London’s holistic LGBT+ charity, are keen to find out more about LGBT+ people in the local area.

A survey has been created which aims to give everyone the chance to share their experiences and help shape future support in the borough.

It is a series of questions designed to help form a picture of life in Barking and Dagenham and influence how local services are designed and delivered to be inclusive and meet the needs of LGBT+ people.

To access the survey, click on http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/4053868/Barking-DagenhamLGBTCommunitySurvey

The responses will be completely anonymous and will make a difference.

‘This is a great opportunity for members of our LGBT+ community to share their views and influence matters that affect everyone’

Councillor Sade Bright, Cabinet Member for Equalities and Cohesion, said: “This is a great opportunity for members of our LGBT+ community to share their views and influence matters that affect everyone.

“We want to hear your opinions about services in the borough and where you think there are gaps in service provision or improvements needed that will influence the way services are designed.”

As part of the project to understand local LGBT+ needs, a number of different activities are also taking place. ELOP is keen to involve as many LGBT+ people in this as possible.

Focus groups are being held later in January – if you are interested in finding out more –  please email info@elop.org with focus group in the subject line.

LGBT+ community mapping events are also being held on 15 January where a poetry event will be hosted by LGBT poet Laureate.
