Barking and Dagenham council is reminding all its green-fingered residents to sign up for their Green Garden Waste permits before Thursday 14 February, to ensure they benefit from this year's extra three collections.

We might be in the grip of a freezing cold snap, but it won’t be long before the ground thaws out and we can get back out into the garden. From vegetable patch perfectionists to flower fans, the first step for anyone looking to spruce up their outdoor space this year should be to get their Green Garden Waste permit sorted.

Three extra collections, for free!

Keen gardeners will be pleased to hear that for 2019, the service will increase from 16 collections to 19 for the year - at no extra cost to residents.  The price for the yearly subscription remains at £40 and will provide subscribers with a fortnightly collection of their green bin.

"In 2018 we collected 99% of all Green Garden Waste bins"

Councillor Syed Ghani, Cabinet Member for Public Realm, said: “This year, we are encouraging more of our residents to get passionate about recycling their Green Garden Waste. We’ve increased the number of collections from 16 to 19 for this year and anyone who signs up before the early deadline will benefit from those three extra pick-ups.”

“In 2018, we collected 99% of all Green Garden Waste bins, and we are hoping to meet and surpass this goal again for 2019.”
