Major traffic disruption in Wood Lane and Althorne Way
From Tuesday 2 January major road works will commence in Wood Lane, carried out by Essex and Suffolk Water and Cadent Gas and will go on for approximately three months.
The diversionary works will start on Monday 8 January through to mid-April.
Wood Lane will be restricted to single lane alternate working, under local temporary traffic light control between Becontree Heath Leisure Centre and the Civic roundabout.
From Monday 26 February until the completion of the works, Althorne Way will be closed at the junction with Wood Lane and alternative access will be via Stour Road.
Stour Road will be changed temporarily to two-way traffic to allow access for local residents and people attending Becontree Heath Leisure Centre, Morrisons supermarket and the Three Travellers public house.
Additional signage will be provided to direct motorists.
Advance warning signs are being put up by the utility companies to inform of the disruption, so drivers can choose to use alternative routes if possible.
This will include out of borough locations including Havering and Redbridge Councils who have an agreement to place signs in their areas.
