Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (England) Regulations 2015
The Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (England) Regulations 2015 were approved by Parliament and came into force on 1 October 2015.
Private sector landlords are required from 1 October 2015 to have a least one smoke alarm installed on every storey of their properties and to install a carbon monoxide alarm in any room containing a solid fuel burning appliance.
Barking and Dagenham landlords are eligible for up to two free smoke alarms for each property licensed in the Borough.
Please complete the request form and bring it to the next landlord forum to collect your alarms.
There is an explanatory booklet for landlords and tenants about Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
Further information on the scheme has been produced by the CLG to highlight the changes in the regulations.
