Proposed school expansion

The planned admission numbers for our schools have been agreed for the next school year and are published in our determined admission arrangements documents.

However we are planning on expanding the number of places at some of our schools.

Planned changes:

Proposed expansion of Robert Clack School and Barking Abbey School

The Cabinet Member for Education and Schools introduced a report on proposals to formally expand a number of schools to help meet the projected growth in demand for school places in the Borough.

The Cabinet resolved to:

  • Agree the extension of the age range for pupils attending Robert Clack Secondary School in order to accommodate primary aged pupils (3FE) and also nursery aged pupils (39 places) from September 2019
  • Agree the expansion of Robert Clack Secondary School from 10 to 18 FE from 1 September 2019 to be a phased planned expansion in collaboration with the school; and
  • Agree the expansion of Barking Abbey Secondary School from 9 to 12 FE from 1 September 2017.

 

Proposed expansion of Jo Richardson Comprehensive School, Gascoigne Primary School and Marsh Green Primary School

The Cabinet Member for Education and Schools introduced a report on proposals to formally expand a number of schools to help meet the projected growth in demand for school places in the Borough.

The Cabinet resolved to:

  • Approve the expansion of Jo Richardson Secondary School from eight to ten forms of entry from 1 September 2015
  • Approve the expansion of Gascoigne Primary School from five to seven forms of entry from 1 September 2016
  • Approve the expansion of Marsh Green Primary School from one to two forms of entry from 1 September 2015
