A by-election is to be held for a Councillor to serve in the following ward within the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham:

  • Thames Ward
  • Number of Councillors to be elected: One (1)

Thames Ward By-Election results

Nomination papers may be obtained from the Electoral Services office, Town Hall, 1 Town Square, Barking, Essex, IG11 7LU, during the times stated below, or by e-mail from electoral.services@lbbd.gov.uk.

Nomination papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer, Town Hall, 1 Town Square, Barking, Essex, IG11 7LU between the hours of 10am and 4pm on any week day (excluding bank holidays) after the date of this notice but no later than 4pm on Thursday 8 April 2021.

If the election is contested, the poll will take place on Thursday 6 May 2021.

Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by midnight on Monday 19 April 2021. Applications can be made online.

Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, Town Hall, 1 Town Square, Barking, Essex, IG11 7LU or at electoral.services@lbbd.gov.uk by 5pm on Tuesday 20 April 2021.

Amendments or cancellations of current proxy and postal proxy vote arrangements must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, Town Hall, 1 Town Square, Barking, Essex, IG11 7LU or at electoral.services@lbbd.gov.uk by 5pm on Tuesday 20 April 2021.

New applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, Town Hall, 1 Town Square, Barking, Essex, IG11 7LU or at electoral.services@lbbd.gov.uk by 5pm on Tuesday 27 April 2021.

Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on the grounds of late illness or incapacity resulting from the coronavirus pandemic, other physical incapacity or for work or service reasons must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, Town Hall, 1 Town Square, Barking, Essex, IG11 7LU by 5pm on Thursday 6 May 2021. The late illness, incapacity or grounds of work or service must have occurred after 5pm on Tuesday 27 April 2021.
