Local area joint inspection for special educational needs

Information on local joint inspection for SEN

The Children and Families Act 2014 changed the way the council and our partners provide services for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities.

From Monday 27 to Friday 31 March 2017 these services were inspected by Her Majesty’s Inspectors, Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission.

The inspection evaluated how effectively the local area:

  • identifies the needs of children and young people who have special educational needs and/or disabilities
  • meets the needs of these children and young people so that their outcomes and chances of participating fully in society improve

The inspectors visited services and organisations in Barking and Dagenham to see how organisations work together to support children and young people with SEND and their families.

They gathered the views of children and young people who use these services and the views of their parents and carers during a series of visits to different settings.
