Be First are a regeneration company wholly owned by Barking and Dagenham to create great places for our residents and communities to live and work. As part of this partnership role, Be First deliver planning, building control and local land charges.

Be First provide statutory planning services on behalf of Barking and Dagenham Council. We are working to provide and industry best planning service to all customers through the publication of an up to date Local Plan supported by a robust evidence base and to provide a decision on all planning applications within statutory timeframes. 

Planning

Planning policy, planning applications, and other information about development work in Barking and Dagenham.

Local land charges

Official local land charges searches are carried out and certified by the council on behalf of a person buying land or property. A full local authority search consists of LLC1 and CON29 Forms ‘Required’ and ‘Optional’.

Building control

This service inspects building work to make sure it complies with the current building regulations.

Street naming and numbering

How we approve new street and property names.
