The One Borough email newsletter provides information about the latest borough news, council services, competitions, ticket giveaways, event information, job vacancies and more.

Who are we?

The council is a local authority providing a broad range of local government services, including Council Tax billing, social services, processing planning applications, waste collection etc. 

The council is a registered data controller with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), registration number Z7517364.

The following information informs you about what we do with your information when you subscribe to the One Borough newsletter.

We collect your personal information when you opt in to receive the One Borough newsletter.

What personal data is processed?

When you opt in to receive the One Borough newsletter, we collect the following information:

• Your first name and surname
• Your email address

Lawful basis for processing your personal information

To process your information, we require a lawful basis to collect it. The lawful basis the council relies on is Article 6.1(a) Consent, of the UK General Data Protection Regulations.  

Withdraw consent

If you no longer wish to receive the One Borough newsletter, you can click on the ‘Unsubscribe’ button at the bottom of any edition of the One Borough newsletter, and you will no longer receive the emails.

Protecting your personal data

The council endeavours to ensure that the services we provide comply with all data protection legislation, for example, the UK General Data Protection Regulations (UK GDPR), and the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA 2018).  

The council has appropriate security and controls in place to prevent data loss, for example, hacking attempts, however, we cannot guarantee that the personal information you submit will not be intercepted.

Sharing your personal information

The council uses Mailchimp, a newsletter distribution platform, to provide you with the One Borough newsletter.  

Mailchimp’s headquarters and servers are in the United States. This means that the data you have shared with us in order to receive the One Borough newsletter (eg your name and email address) may be processed in the United States. The council will not share your information with any other third party unless legally required to do so.

How long do we keep your personal data for

The council will only use your personal information for as long as you subscribe to the One Borough newsletter.
