Change or end your tenancy

You can change your tenancy, end your tenancy or end a tenancy on behalf of someone else.

Change your tenancy

The named tenant can make changes to a tenancy agreement to:

  • change their name (marriage/divorce, deed poll name change, correct a spelling mistake)
  • add a partner or spouse (you must have lived together at the property for at least 12 months before you can add a partner or spouse to the tenancy)
  • add a child or household member
  • remove household member
  • change from a joint to a sole tenancy (will also require a visit from the Landlord Services Officer to finalise the change)

You will need your rent account number and may be required to provide proof of ID such as passport, driving licence, marriage/civil partnership certificate or utility bills depending on the change you wish to make.

End your tenancy

You must be named on your tenancy to end it. If it is a joint tenancy only 1 named tenant is required to end the tenancy.

You will need to have your rent account number with you to complete the end of tenancy form. Your 8 to 14 digit number can be found on your rent barcoded letter, rent card or letter from rent collection.

We will be in contact after the form is completed to complete the end of tenancy.

End your tenancy

Ending a tenancy on behalf of someone

If the tenant is no longer able to terminate the tenancy we'll accept notice from somebody to do so on behalf of the tenant, for example someone with power of attorney.

You will need the tenant's rent account number with you to complete the form. The 8 to 14 digit number can be found on the tenant's rent barcoded letter, rent card or letter from rent collection.

We will be in contact after the form is completed to complete the end of tenancy.
