Social Work is a complex and challenging profession, and we strongly believe in supporting and encouraging our staff to progress and develop within the profession.
In LBBD we are developing our current career progression offer so that all internal staff and those wishing to join us know what to expect. Similarly, to the journey of the child we term this the journey of the worker. Below are some of the things we have as part of this offer:
We have a comprehensive training offer across Children’s Care and Support giving lots of opportunities to learn and develop in your new work environment. As a new starter you will learn lots “on the job” but will also have access to a range of innovative learning opportunities from E Learning, blended learning solutions, digital and face to face training.
Our learning offer links directly to our core priorities, audit recommendations and our practice framework model. Depending on which team you join, you will complete the mandatory core elements of learning initially with opportunity to continue to learn, develop and contribute to service improvement to enhance your CPD. Our excellent training programme is refreshed yearly and changes to suit the needs of our staff and services and is seen amongst our staff as a real strength of working for our Borough.
Our training offer ranges from the core mandatory training to optional CPD, service specific learning and innovative masterclasses. We also have a comprehensive PQ programme which staff can apply for.
We have a career progression framework, to assist Social Workers in developing their professional competence and pay grade giving a clear route for progression and how to reach career aspirations and goals.
Whatever your role with us, you can be sure that you will learn lots whilst growing and developing professionally. Once you start with us, you will be able to view the career progression information on our dedicated social care resource pages.
