Barking and Dagenham Council observe minute’s silence for Manchester terror attack victims

Barking and Dagenham Council will join the rest of the country in holding a minute’s silence on Tuesday 22 May to remember those who tragically lost their lives during the Manchester terror attack last year.

Leader elect, Councillor Darren Rodwell will be joined by councillors and staff from the council as they pay their respects to the 22 people who were killed by a suicide bomber following the explosion at an Ariana Grande concert at Manchester Arena.

The bombing was the deadliest attack on the UK since 56 people were killed in the 7/7 London attack back in 2005.

It is important that the whole country shows their support and remembers those who lost their lives

More than 800 other people received physical or psychological injuries in the Manchester blast and UK government buildings will be observing the silence at 2.30pm.

Cllr Rodwell said: “We will never forget the horrific scenes that we witnessed in Manchester a year-ago and the fact so many innocent people went out to enjoy a concert and never returned home.

“The city of Manchester came together to support and help the families affected by the atrocity and it is important that the whole country shows their support and remembers those who lost their lives and the many others affected by the attack.”
