Valence House will unveil its latest exhibition this half-term – but unlike any other display, this one will be deliberately hard to discover, and families will be challenged to spot it.

 

The Becontree Avenue museum is one of only nine locations in London selected to take part in a nationwide campaign called Where’s Wally? The Big Museum Hunt.

 

Visitors will be tasked with finding Wally, the typically hard to find character who is famous for his red and white striped jumper and hat.

We’re delighted to be one of the few chosen museums in the capital to be taking part in this fun and exciting initiative that will hopefully get families and young people interested about visiting museums and learning about history.

Successful participants will receive an ‘I found Wally!’ sticker and be entered into a grand prize draw with a chance to win an art fund family membership and a bundle of Where’s Wally? goodies.

 

Councillor Saima Ashraf, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Community Leadership and Engagement, said: “We’re delighted to be one of the few chosen museums in the capital to be taking part in this fun and exciting initiative that will hopefully get families and young people interested about visiting museums and learning about history.”

 

Where’s Wally? The Big Museum Hunt has been organised by Walker Books and Kids in Museums to celebrate the release of the new book, Where’s Wally? Double Trouble at the Museum.

 

Created in 1987 by British author Martin Handford, more than 72 million copies of Where’s Wally? have been sold in 31 countries around the world.

 

The books challenge readers to find the character among a crowd of people and busy scenes.  

 

The Where’s Wally? The Big Museum Hunt exhibit is free and will take place between Tuesday, 22 October and Saturday, 2 November.
