Brand new film merchandise for every pupil who entered school cultural education competition

Barking and Dagenham Council’s Cultural Education Partnership linked up with Film LBBD and Dagenham storage solutions company CAMA to award every pupil that took part in their logo competition with a special prize.

The Cultural Education Partnership challenged young people to design them a new logo as part of their rebrand to ‘Inspiring Futures’, as well as a logo to represent the ‘Inspire Festivals’ that takes place in schools. The popular competition saw entries from 241 pupils from 11 schools across the borough take part in a bid to see their designs chosen and receive brand new film and games merchandise.

CAMA, in partnership with Film LBBD, were thrilled to be able to offer the prizes as part of their commitment to sustainability and working to benefit the local community.

Martin Russell, Culture and Wellbeing Lead for Education, said: “The Cultural Education Partnership bridges links between cultural organisations and schools to work towards every young person having the opportunity to be creative, either in school or beyond.

“We actively encourage young people to make their voice heard and it’s brilliant to see so many pupils engaged in the opportunity to shape the future of the Cultural Education Partnership.”

The winning entry has been professionally designed and will be used by the partnership from 2021 onwards. The winner and runners up also received London Graphic Centre gift cards.

Councillor Evelyn Carpenter, Cabinet Member for School Improvement and Educational Attainment, was a judge for the logo design competition. She said: “I was extremely impressed by the efforts of all the young people that took part in this creative competition; the standard of entries was outstanding.

“One of the key roles of the Cultural Education Partnership in Barking and Dagenham is to support young people to understand pathways into the creative, cultural and digital industries.

“The donation of prizes for our competition is a fantastic demonstration of how Film LBBD and their industry partners are already supporting education and schools in the borough.”
