East London school bags FOUR Teacher of the Year Awards

Staff at All Saints Catholic School in Dagenham scooped four awards at the KM Charity’s London Teacher of the Year Awards ceremony.

The annual awards mark the vital contribution that school staff make to the community, recognising the expertise and dedication that makes an outstanding teacher. This year’s glittering awards ceremony was held in Brighton.

Laura Agudo Pueyo was recognised for her relentless drive to help pupils improve their understanding of how they learn and apply it in lessons.

Amy Whiley won her award for raising aspirations. She was praised for her work during the pandemic, keeping pupils engaged with their studies through online learning and leading whole-school literacy work.

“It’s brilliant to see our teachers in Barking and Dagenham recognised for their outstanding practice and support for our young people."

Sherelle Oakley bagged her award for her continued dedication and leadership in pastoral, safeguarding and mentoring work. And Meral Incedal won her award for her inexhaustible drive to inspire pupils beyond the curriculum.

Clare Cantle, Headteacher of All Saints Catholic School, commented: “It fills me with pride to work with our staff and see them recognised for their commitment, creativity and compassion that they have shown, and continue to show, in the most of trying of times.

“This school would not be what it is without them and so many others who we also applaud.

“This is also a great moment of extra motivation as we continue to head towards nothing less than exceptional for the families we serve.”

Councillor Evelyn Carpenter, Cabinet Member for Educational Attainment and School Improvement, said: “It’s brilliant to see our teachers in Barking and Dagenham recognised for their outstanding practice and support for our young people.

“Congratulations to Laura, Amy, Sherelle, Meral and everyone at All Saints School.”
