Barking and Dagenham Remembrance Day Events

On Friday 11 November, Armistice Day, the Council will be holding a short service at 11am at the Job Drain Memorial Statue, adjacent to the Broadway Theatre in Barking. The Dagenham Royal Naval Association will also hold a short service at the Cross Keys War Memorial in Dagenham Village, Church Street, Dagenham from 10.45am.

On Saturday 12 November, the Dagenham Branch of the Royal Naval Association will be holding a short service at the War Memorial on the corner of the Heathway and Church Elm Lane in Dagenham from 10.30am.

On Remembrance Sunday (13 November) the Council will be holding a Remembrance Parade, which will leave Barking Park at 10.20am and will go through Barking Town Centre, arriving at St. Margaret’s Church for a service at 10.50am, where a two-minute silence will take place at 11am.

A service will also take place at Dagenham Parish Church Remembrance Service on Church Lane at 10.50am. A two-minute silence will be held at the church at 11am. A service by the Becontree Royal British Legion will also take place at 3pm at the Royal British Legion Chadwell Heath, 541 Becontree Avenue, Dagenham.

All these events can be attended by the public.

Leader of the Council, Cllr Darren Rodwell said: “It’s important for us as a borough and as a community, to remember those who sacrificed their lives for our freedoms. We will honour those who fought for us, and will we remember them as the heroes they are. We hope all our residents will join us in paying their respects and reflect on those who did so much for us.”

Friday 11 November

10.45am

The Dagenham Branch of the Royal Naval Association will be holding a Memorial Service with local school children at the Cross Keys War Memorial in Dagenham.

11am

Barking and Dagenham Council will be holding a short service at the Job Drain Memorial Statue, adjacent to the Broadway Theatre in Barking.

(Attendees are requested to arrive by 10.45am)

Saturday 12 November

10.30am

The Dagenham Branch of the Royal Naval Association will be laying wreaths followed by a short at the War Memorial on the corner of the Heathway and Church Elm Lane.

Sunday 13 November

10am

Wreaths will be laid at the War Memorial in Barking Park at 10am (Attendees are requested to arrive by 9.45am).

10.20am

Barking and Dagenham Council Remembrance Parade – This will leave Barking Park at 10.20am and will walk through Barking Town Centre to arrive at St. Margaret’s Church for a service at 10.50am, with a 2-minute silence at 11.00am.

(Guests who do not want to participate in the parade from Barking Park are requested to join at the Church at 10.45am).

10.50am

Remembrance Service at St. Margaret’s Church, Barking – followed by refreshments in the hall of the church.

10.50am

Dagenham Parish Church Remembrance Service will take place at the Parish Church on Church Lane at 10.50am.

(Guests who want to participate in a parade that will march from the Trades Hall, Charlotte Road to the Church should assemble by 10.20am).

A two-minute silence will be held at the church at 11am.

Refreshments will follow after the service.

3pm

A small parade and service will be held at Becontree Royal British Legion at 3.00pm at the Royal British Legion Chadwell Heath, 541 Becontree Avenue, Dagenham. Refreshments will be served afterwards.
