Nominations for this year’s Women’s Empowerment Month Awards draws to a close

There’s still time for nominations of inspirational local women to be a part of this year’s Women’s Empowerment Month Awards 2022 – although time is quickly running out.

The celebrations, now in their seventh year, mark the diverse achievements of women who live or work in Barking and Dagenham across eight categories, six of which are open to public nominations.

The awards include businesswoman of the year, female parent or carer of the year, female volunteer of the year, leadership award, women’s community group of the year, young woman of the year, outstanding woman of the year, and the lifetime achievement award.

The Women’s Empowerment Month Awards form part of a month-long celebration that take place in the borough each year.

Councillor Sade Bright, Cabinet Member for Employment, Skills & Aspirations and Member Development, said: “Our borough is full of inspirational women who have, and continue, to help build pride, respect and cohesion in Barking and Dagenham.

“The Women Empowerment Awards is about celebrating their achievements and shining a light on the contribution of the amazing women we are fortunate to have in our borough.

“We want all residents to take a moment to nominate deserving women to help celebrate the role they play in our borough. Nominations close on Monday 31 January so please get in there with your choice of deserving candidates.”
