Budding young filmmakers from east London invited to gain work experience on a live film shoot

Budding young film makers from Barking and Dagenham keen to get a foot in the door in the film industry are being invited to take up a paid work experience on a live film shoot.

The Council has commissioned social enterprise film production company Mediorite to help tell the story of the volunteers and community groups that make the borough a great place to live. Each day of filming will create an opportunity for a young person to gain experience behind the camera and paid work at the London Living Wage.

Residents aged 18 – 24 years-old who are interested and available during the day in April 2023 are encouraged to apply. A minimum of seven days’ notice will be given ahead of shoots.

Councillor Saima Ashraf, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Community Leadership and Engagement, said: “I’m so pleased this opportunity is on the table for our borough’s budding talent. It’s a great way to get stuck in and see first-hand how it all works on a live film set – while getting paid! I urge those who are interested to grab this invaluable work experience with both hands.”

Those interested should send their CV and a brief introduction to Lucy@mediorite.co.uk by Friday 31 March. Successful applicants will be contacted for a virtual interview.
