Council kicks off its 14th National Graduate Development Programme

Residents and current employees of Barking and Dagenham Council are being invited to apply for the next cohort of the National Management Trainee scheme for a September 2024 start.

The National Graduate Development Programme (NGDP) is a two-year fast-track programme for graduates who want to make a difference in their communities while launching their management career in the public sector.

The programme includes a fully funded postgraduate qualification in leadership and management and a starting salary of £30,699 per annum (current).

There are two routes – one for Barking and Dagenham residents and council employees and another for those living outside the borough.

Candidates from all backgrounds and disciplines are encouraged to apply. They must have achieved a 2:2 or above by July 2023, have the right to work in the UK.

Cllr Dominic Twomey, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance, Growth & Core Services, said: "Last month I welcomed the latest cohort of graduates to join the council, six young people in total, four of who I am pleased to say are local residents.

“The scheme is a way for us to grow our own managers of the future and I will like to see as many local resident show an interest and apply.”

There is also an opportunity to take part in a Tips for a Situational Judgement Test on Tuesday 22 November.
