Council offers reassurance to parents on RAAC and school closures

Following reports over the weekend that more than 150 schools in England have been identified as having a type of potentially dangerous concrete which has seen schools close, Barking and Dagenham Council is reassuring parents that none of its schools have been affected.

Cllr Elizabeth Kangethe, Cabinet Member for Educational Attainment & School Improvement, said: “In Barking and Dagenham we work very closely with our schools and carry out regular inspections on our school estate.

“I would like to reassure parents that none of the borough’s schools have been affected and all of our schools remain open for learning.”

Parents who may have any concerns are advised to speak to their child’s school head in the first instance.
