An update on recent rent communication

On Tuesday 12 December, we sent an email and text message to some council tenants, reminding them of the importance of maintaining their rent payments, particularly at this time of year.

We know things are tough right now for lots of people with the cost of living being higher than ever, and there can be extra pressures during the festive period.

It can be difficult to balance budgets and some people may miss out on paying their rent which can cause more difficulties later on.

For this reason, we wanted to remind residents like you of your rent payments and the support we can provide for anyone who may be falling behind with their payments.

Unfortunately, some tenants whose rent account is currently up to date also received the message. We sincerely apologise for any confusion or distress that this may have caused you.

If your rent account is up to date, you have an arrangement with us, or if you pay by direct debit, there is nothing further you need to do. We apologise again for any confusion and would like to thank you for continuing to maintain your rent payments.

If you would like to check your rent account balance, you can do so by using the chatbot on our website or by clicking on this link and registering for My B&D.

If you do have rent arrears and you don’t have a current arrangement in place, we encourage you to contact our customer services team, from Thursday, 14 December.

You can call us on 020 8215 3000 to talk through your situation. Our dedicated team will be available to help you and work towards a resolution to address any concerns you may have.

Please remember that if you’re struggling with your finances, we can provide lots of support, including help with energy, bills, food, money and wellbeing.

From benefits and low-cost loans, through to signposting to food banks and warm spaces, there’s lots of help available.

You can find out more by taking a look at our cost of living support webpages or please visit your local Community Hub to talk to someone for advice and support.
