The Future of Licensing

From 16 February to 26 April 2024, we ran a public consultation on the future of property licensing for privately rented homes in Barking and Dagenham. 

The consultation focused on two proposed new schemes:

1. A replacement borough-wide Selective Licensing Scheme for single-family homes.
2. A borough-wide Additional HMO Licensing Scheme for small shared homes not covered by mandatory HMO licensing.

We want to thank everyone who participated in the consultation. Your feedback will be crucial in helping to shape our support for private tenants and landlords over the next five years. 

We are now carefully considering all the feedback received. We aim to publish the findings of our consultation and our official response in early Summer.
