Shopping online

If you don't have a computer at home, it might be worth investing in one and shopping online. Support is available to get online if you need this.

You can use the internet to do your shopping, which can make life easier if you don't have friends or relatives nearby who can help you. Simply choose a supermarket, do your shopping on their website, and they will deliver it straight to your door. Most major supermarkets offer this service.

Pre-prepared meals

If you are having difficulty making your own meals at home, you can have pre-prepared meals delivered or get help with meal preparation.

Supermarkets deliver frozen ready meals, fresh ready meals, groceries and other products if you are shopping online. There are also some big companies that specialise in frozen meals. Orders need to be placed online or over the phone.  Please note this is not a list of council approved meal suppliers and it is not a comprehensive list. This is just information on some of the options available you might wish to choose:

Help with the cost of food

Information and support on the cost-of-living is available if you are struggling with the cost of food, including local foodbanks and community food clubs.

Help from adult social care

If you or someone you know needs help with managing and maintaining nutrition and is finding it hard to manage without support, you can ask adult social care at Barking and Dagenham council for a free care needs assessment.
