Discretionary financial support

You may be able to get extra financial help from the Council.

There is one online form to apply for all the following schemes and evidence must be provided with your application:

  • Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) Crisis Payments and Move in Packs
  • Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) Housing Payment (replacing DHP)
  • Discretionary Council Tax Relief (DCTR)

Eligibility (who can apply) criteria applies.

You can apply for multiple schemes at the same time.

The Council will only consider each CRF scheme you select but may also consider you for Discretionary Council Tax Relief even if you didn’t apply for it.

Your application for financial support can also be used to apply for Council Tax Support or Free School Meals if you qualify, if you are not already getting them and you confirm that you want to claim them.

Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) – Crisis Payments and Move in Packs

Funded by UK Government the Crisis and Resilience Fund is available for residents experiencing or facing a financial crisis or to assist residents moving into an unfurnished property and needing help with furniture and appliances. Evidence must be provided with all applications.

Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) Housing Payments

Funded by UK Government, CRF Housing Payments replace the previous Discretionary Housing Payment (DHP) Scheme. For residents who require additional emergency support to meet their rental costs or costs associated with moving. Evidence must be provided with all applications.

Discretionary Council Tax Relief (DCTR)

For residents who are facing ‘exceptional hardship’ and may need additional support to meet their Council Tax costs. Evidence must be provided with all applications. Funded by the Local Authority
