Celebrate the 80th Anniversary of VE Day with us
Thursday 8 May 2025 marks a significant milestone – the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.

On Thursday 1 May we’ll be holding a special flag-raising event outside Barking Town Hall to honour this historic occasion.
So many of you have also stepped forward to host a street party with your neighbours. We look forward to seeing your fabulous photos and videos - please don't forget to tag us in on social media.
Many of our borough’s wonderful community groups have also stepped forward to host local events – and they’re open to everyone! Take a look at the details below:
