South Asian Heritage Month

South Asian Heritage Month runs from 18th July to 17th August each year and seeks to commemorate, mark and celebrate South Asian cultures, histories, and communities.

South Asian culture has made a significant impact on Britain through many aspects, such as food, clothing, music, words, and the overall character of our towns and cities.

Here in Barking and Dagenham, observing South Asian Heritage Month provides us with the opportunity to embrace and celebrate the history and identity of British South Asians and their contributions to our borough and local communities.
