Changes to services during the heatwave
Red weather warnings for severe heat are in place on Thursday 25 June and Friday 26 June, with high temperatures expected on Saturday. This may impact some Council services.
Whether it’s a colourful front garden that brightens the whole street, or a peaceful back garden haven, we know many residents take real pride in their outdoor spaces. This year, we want to celebrate that passion and we’re inviting you to get involved!
Nominate your own garden or put forward a neighbour whose garden deserves recognition, for a chance to win up to £300!
From creative planting to immaculate lawns, or wildlife-friendly corners and vibrant pots and planters, we want to see it!
There are three prizes up for grabs – so get nominating!
Our thanks go to Chandlers Roofing Supplies for their generous sponsorship of the winning prizes.
To enter, email housingservicesoffice@lbbd.gov.uk with:
• The name and address of the garden you’re nominating
• Whether it’s a front or back garden
• A short description of what makes it stand out (approx. 150 words)
• Your contact details
Nominations must be submitted by Friday, 3 July 2026.
Once nominations close, our panel of judges will visit the shortlisted gardens. They’ll be looking for creativity, care, impact on the local area, and that special something that makes a garden stand out.
So, if you know of a garden (either front or back) that deserves a moment in the spotlight, or if you’re quietly nurturing your own masterpiece, now’s the time to share it!
