Barking and Dagenham Council opens nominations for the 2026 Women’s Empowerment Awards

Barking and Dagenham Council is inviting residents and local organisations to put forward nominations for the 2026 Women’s Empowerment Awards, celebrating the remarkable achievements of women across the borough during Women’s Empowerment Month in March.

This annual awards shine a spotlight on women who have made a real difference in their communities, workplaces, and beyond.

Winners will be honoured on a dedicated Recognition Wall and featured across the council’s social media channels.

Award categories:

  • Community Project of the Year
  • Community Impact
  • Entrepreneur of the Year
  • Educator of the Year
  • Health and Wellbeing Champion of the Year
  • Woman of Courage
  • Jodie Chesney Young Community Champion of the Year
  • Anne Estlea Lifetime Achievement
  • Barking and Dagenham Woman of the Year

Councillor Sade Bright, Cabinet Member for Employment, Skills & Aspiration, said: "Each year, these awards remind us of the incredible strength, creativity, and resilience of women in Barking and Dagenham. And this is your chance to celebrate those who inspire change and make a lasting impact. We encourage everyone to get involved and help us recognise these outstanding contributions. Nominate someone incredible now!"

Nominees must live or work in Barking and Dagenham. The deadline for submissions is Sunday 11 January 2026. Please note, entries received after this date will not be considered.
