Each October, we proudly celebrate Black History Month by honouring the achievements of individuals and organisations of African and Caribbean heritage who have made a lasting impact in Barking and Dagenham. Our Hall of Fame is a tribute to these contributions and we’re refreshing it for 2025.

 The updated Hall of Fame will be featured on the council’s website and promoted across our social media channels.

We’re inviting nominations! If you know someone who deserves recognition, please email CE-Strategy@lbbd.gov.uk by Saturday 31 August, including:

• Name
• Connection to Barking and Dagenham (e.g. birthplace, residency, community involvement)
• Brief description of their achievement or impact (max 80 words)
• Contact details (if available, so we can notify them)

Submissions will be reviewed by the Leader’s Office and Cllr Sade Bright to confirm the final selection.
