We recently hosted a Film Enterprise Pitch Day, an exciting event dedicated to showcasing the creativity and talent of young filmmakers from eight local schools.
Pupils presented their film idea pitches to five distinguished judges, including Bankey Ojo (Award-Winning Composer for TV & Film), Jules Hardy (British TV Presenter), Daisy Ifama (South London Filmmaker & Director), Aleks Dimitrijevic (BFI Executive Producer), and Gavin Saville (Director/Producer & Founder of Wild Indie Sci-Fi & Fantasy Film Festival).
Following the pitches, judges selected a primary school and a secondary school winner, whose film ideas will be professionally transformed into reality.
As well as the prize of films being made, the Film Barking & Dagenham team have also selected the 'Make It Here' - Rising Star Award For secondary school students who have demonstrated specific aptitude, interest and progression towards a future career in the film industry.
Students will work with the Film LBBD team for a day in the life of the film team. Spend a day learning about locations, studios, lighting & much more!
This event aimed to inspire and empower the next generation of filmmakers by providing them with a platform to share their ideas and receive valuable feedback.
Councillor Elizabeth Kangethe, Cabinet Member for Educational Attainment and School Improvement said:
"This event is a testament to the creativity and determination of our young filmmakers. It showcases their ability to think outside the box and bring their unique visions to life. By providing them with this platform, we are not only celebrating their talent but also encouraging them to pursue their dreams and make a significant impact in the world of film."
