Councillor Dominic Twomey, Leader of Barking and Dagenham Council said: 

"I am sure everyone in Barking and Dagenham is completely appalled by the disgusting attack on a Synagogue in Manchester yesterday, and I know that all our thoughts will be with the families of the two men who were killed, and the four people who remain in hospital. 

"Hate crime has no place in society. Whether it's anti-Semitism, Islamophobia or any other form of hate targeting people because of their faith, race, identity or beliefs - we must continue to do all we can to ensure it is challenged and rooted out wherever we find it - here in Barking and Dagenham and throughout the country."
