Families looking for fun activities this Easter break won’t need to travel far, as Barking and Dagenham is packed with events, exhibitions and outdoor adventures for residents of all ages.

From Easter egg hunts and hands-on museum activities, to exploring the borough’s parks and enjoying a relaxing brunch, there’s plenty happening across the borough’s culture, heritage and green spaces.

1. Easter Trail fun at Eastbrookend Country Park 

Saturday 28 March - Sunday 12 April, £5

Follow the trail, spot the colourful eggs, collect the letters, and crack the Bunny code to claim your Easter treat at the Tea Room. There are two trails to choose from; including a quieter trail perfect for SEND and younger children. Optional picnic and lunch boxes also available from £5. Book online.

2. Family Workshops: Making Your Story at the Women’s Museum 

28 March and 4 April, 12pm – 3pm, Free  

Come along to this hands-on family workshop, led by local artists Julia Forsman and Javaria Hashmi, celebrating the stories, skills and everyday brilliance of women past and present. Design your own protest badge, make a mini memory banner, and create a family memory box to take home! Suitable for ages 5 – 12 years.

3. Springtime with TinderSticks at Beam Parklands,

Wednesday 1 April, 10am – 12pm, free

Join in the fun, learn all about the birds and have a go at making a nest! Discover the spring colours and make some beautiful hapazome to take home (bashing the colour out of flowers onto material!) and try not to get blown away as you make and race kites across the grassland. 4. A Curious Spring: Wonderland Crafts at Valence House

Thursday 2 April, 11am and 1.30pm, £5

A whimsical, hands-on creative experience inspired by the wonder of spring. From enchanting spring décor to playful keepsakes, each make-and-take project invites participants to explore, create, and embrace the joy of the season. Suitable for ages 3+. Book online.

5. Junior Tennis camp at Barking Park

Friday 3 April, 12pm – 2.30pm, £18.50

This Easter camp will give children the chance to stay active and have fun during the holidays, with a mix of tennis coaching, games, team competitions and match play throughout the day. Sessions are delivered by Lawn Tennis Association-qualified coaches and are suitable for beginners through to more experienced players. Suitable for ages 5 – 15 years. Book online.

6. Easter-bury Egg Hunt at Eastbury Manor House

Friday 3 April and Sunday 5 April, 11am – 3pm, £5

Families can head to Eastbury Manor House for the annual Easter trail. Children can search the historic grounds, take part in fun activities, and complete the trail to win a sweet prize. The ticket also includes free entry to the historic Tudor house, giving visitors a chance to explore almost five centuries of local history. Suitable for all ages. Book online.

7. The White Rabbits Workshop and Scavenger Hunt at Valence House

Tuesday 7 April, 11am – 12pm, £4

Channel your inner Mad Hatter to decorate a one-of-a-kind basket fit for a tea party. Once your basket is ready, set off on a hunt through the Valence House Gardens. Can you find the hidden treasures before the Queen of Hearts finds you? Suitable for ages up to 8. Book online.

8. Wonderland Farm Day, Valence House

Thursday 9 April, 11am – 4pm, free – drop in

Gemma’s Farm is returning to Valence House for a day of family fun! Come along to meet Gemma’s friendly farm animals, enjoy simple outdoor games, and step into a touch of Wonderland-inspired magic. It’s the perfect opportunity for children to explore, play, and make special memories. Suitable for all ages.

9. Eastbrookend Country Park Tea Room Brunch

10. Easter cupcake decorating workshop at Valence House

Inspired by the enchanting world of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, this hands-on workshop at Valence House invites you to decorate delightful cupcakes fit for the most curious of tea parties.
