FREE* Easter holiday activities for young people in Barking and Dagenham

Barking and Dagenham Council is pleased to announce that bookings are now open for the Easter Holidays Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme, offering thousands of local children access to free, enriching and nutritious holiday provision.

Following the Department for Education’s long‑term commitment to fund the HAF Programme until 2029, backed by an additional £600 million in national investment, the council is set to deliver its most fulfilling offer yet.

Over 6,000 local children took part in the HAF programme last year, which combines healthy meals, exciting activities, and essential childcare for families who need it most.

This year, the council is strengthening provision even further, with:

  • Enhanced support for children with SEND
  • A greater focus on mental health and wellbeing
  • A broader range of inclusive, high‑quality providers across the borough

Councillor Elizabeth Kangethe, Cabinet Member for Employment, Skills and Aspiration, said:

“Our HAF programme is back and bursting with energy! Every holiday, we see children discovering new passions, making friends, and having fun. I can’t wait to see young people across Barking and Dagenham getting involved. I would encourage parents to take a look at the fantastic programme we have on offer for the Easter holidays. Book your children’s places now!”

Families eligible for benefits‑related free school meals can book free sessions, while affordable paid places are available for all other residents.

Every activity includes a FREE hot meal.
