Major boost in bulky waste and fly tipping clean ups across Barking and Dagenham

Barking and Dagenham Council’s commitment to a cleaner borough is paying off, with new figures showing strong early results from the council’s free bulky waste collections and expanded fly‑tipping response team.

The latest data highlights the significant impact these improvements are already having around the borough.

Since launching the enhanced services, the council has delivered:

  • 1,991 additional bulky waste bookings
  • 81.9 tonnes of bulky waste collected
  • 77.5 tonnes of unreported fly‑tipped waste removed
  • 100 dumped mattresses cleared from local streets

These efforts sit alongside the council’s business as usual fly-tipping collection crew who are also picking up reported fly-tips every day.

Residents can continue to help keep the borough clean by using the council’s free disposal options:

And residents are being encouraged to report fly-tips online when they see them: www.lbbd.gov.uk/pests-pollution-noise-and-food/street-cleaning-issues/report-fly-tipping plus if they have evidence of people fly-tipping to report them by emailing grimecrime@lbbd.gov.uk

As part of the Cleaner BD campaign, the council continues to hold regular Days of Action in known hotspot areas bringing council services together alongside the community, schools and businesses to tackle a variety of issues.
